Meet Our Prosthodontist

Dr. Morgan Gwin

Originally from Edmonton, Dr. Morgan Gwin obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering before completing the DDS program at the University of Alberta in 2015.  She spent three years in private practice in the Edmonton area before returning to graduate school at the University of Washington to specialize in Prosthodontics.

The field of Prosthodontics deals with the replacement of missing teeth and oral tissues with the goal of restoring oral form and function so that patients can comfortably and confidently speak, chew, laugh and smile.  Prosthodontists have advanced training in smile esthetics, restorative dentistry, dental implants, full arch prostheses (patients may know these as “All on 4” or “fixed complete dentures”), and removable prosthetics (complete and partial dentures). She provides a range of treatments, from the restoration of single teeth to complex, full-mouth rehabilitations that involve teeth, implants, or a combination of both.

Overview

What are full arch implants?

Full arch implants are a type of dental implant used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. They consist of multiple implant posts that are placed in the jawbone, with a full arch of artificial teeth attached to them. This type of implant provides a number of benefits for patients, including improved stability and function, as well as a more natural-looking and comfortable replacement for missing teeth.

Additionally, full arch implants can help to preserve the integrity of the jawbone, preventing further bone loss and helping to maintain a youthful facial structure.

When should you see a prosthodontist for full arch implants?

You should see a prosthodontist for full arch implants when you are missing all of your upper or lower teeth or are in need of a full arch reconstruction.

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has advanced training in the replacement of missing teeth using implants, bridges, and dentures. At Chinook Dental Group, our prosthodontist works closely with an oral surgeon to ensure a successful outcome for our patients.

Benefits

What are the benefits of full arch implants?

Full arch implants are a type of dental implant that provide several benefits. They are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth and can provide a permanent solution to dentures.

They can also provide a strong and stable foundation for fixed or removable prosthetics, giving patients a natural-looking and functional smile.

Additionally, full arch implants can help to preserve the jawbone and prevent further deterioration, which can help to maintain facial structure and prevent the need for additional procedures in the future.
