Dr. Tyson Merrill
Prosthodontist

Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Tyson Merrill began his post-secondary education at Mount Royal University before earning his dental degree in Melbourne, Australia. He went on to complete a residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota and is a board-certified prosthodontist.

The field of Prosthodontics focuses on restoring and replacing teeth and oral tissues, with the goal of helping patients eat, speak, and smile with comfort and confidence. Prosthodontists receive advanced training in smile esthetics, restorative dentistry, implant-supported restorations, full-arch prostheses (often known as “All-on-4” or fixed complete dentures), and removable prosthetics such as complete and partial dentures.

Dr. Merrill has always been drawn to restorative dentistry and knew early on that he wanted to specialize in Prosthodontics. During his residency, he worked closely with other dental specialists in a multi-specialty setting and saw firsthand how much patients benefit when providers plan care together. He has carried that collaborative approach into his own private practice. He values being able to work as part of a team here at Sierra, where he can partner with colleagues across specialties to give each patient the best possible outcome.

After years of training abroad and in the United States, Dr. Merrill is happy to be back in Alberta, where he and his wife, Sarah, are raising their four children. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys water skiing, mountain biking, and working on cars.
