How does dental insurance work in Alberta?
In Alberta, there are a number of ways to pay for oral health care that does not require relying on the Canadian Health Act (CHA). Employer-based healthcare plans and programs such as the Canadian Dental Benefit Program, Alberta Works or Child Health Benefits can provide coverage for many.
However, these options may not be available in all cases. Therefore you may consider purchasing private dental insurance if you are ineligible for the listed programs or do not receive it from an employer plan, are retired or are self-employed.
